Port of Leghorn

Leghorn is the main sea port of central-northern and Italy. It is a multipurpose call that can accommodate in its more than twenty terminals all kinds of vessels and commodities (from containers to cars, from chemical and petroleum products to general cargo and Ro-Ro, as well as passengers). It offers high levels of specialization and updated facilities. More than 7.500 vessels call the port yearly from/to Mediterranean ports (national and foreigners) and coastal areas all over the world. All in all more than 60 regular line services on Mediterranean and extra Mediterranean sea routes have in Leghorn their port of call.
The inland terminal “Toscano”, which is right behind the port, and the connections with the road and railway networks make the port of Leghorn as a structure serving a catchment area which goes far beyond the region’s territory, with a total throughput of embarked and disembarked goods of 28,630 millions tons in 2007.
All in all the port is made up of 90 berths, quays for an extension of 12.000 metres with depths up to 13 metres, and port areas for 2.500.000 sqm - 56.500 sqm of which are warehouses on public domain area.
Leghorn is also an important passenger’s nodal centre for the sea connections with the Tuscan archipelago, Sardinia and Corsica. It is also a cruise port as it offers a cruise terminal accommodating 3 millions passengers a year.
All main services to vessels and goods are provided in port, dry docks included.
