OLBIA
The Port of Olbia, main gateway to Costa Smeralda, besides being one of the most important passenger port of call of the Mediterranean with 5 million passengers per annum, it also has a commercial role with a total throughput of nearly 6 million tonnes.
The territory of the port is divided into three areas: Cocciani; the inner port dedicated to recreational boating and small-sized cruise ships, where the old Roman port still exists; port Isola Bianca. In the same area a new pier for cruise ships is under completion. Two additional piers of 275 metres each will be built in 2008.
The port is provided with wide parking areas for both cars and commercial vehicles.
The modern Passenger Terminal covers a total area of 7,300 sqm and it is designed to host a maximum of 6,000 passengers a day.
GOLFO ARANCI
Golfo Aranci every year marks almost a million of disembarking passengers. The port has been gaining in importance thanks to its favourable position and high drafts allowing heavy tonnage ships to berth, as well as to its first-rate services. The Passenger Terminal of Golfo Aranci is also landmark for Italian Railways Ferries. Its activity as fishing port is also worthy of mention as well.
Both ports are marked by an intense recreational boating activity with facilities and shipyards at its service.
