On 21st January 2016 the Ports Decree has reviewed the Italian ports network. The Ports decree that belongs to the re-launch of ports and logistics in Italy promoted by the Ministry for Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) stands for the “Reorganization, rationalization and simplification of Port Authorities”.
Port Authorities have been re-organised into strategic decision centres managed by Port Network Authorities (PNA), based in the Italian “core” ports as set out by the EU. The new PNA will be in charge of 57 national ports.
PNAs will have a strategic role in policy, programming and coordinating the ports in their own area.
